What are your hours?

Each therapist has their own hours which may include sessions after 6 pm & Saturday availability. 

All emails and calls will be returned within 2 business days. If you are experiencing a mental health or medical crisis, please call 988 or 911 

How does setting up an appointment work?

Reach out in the way that’s easiest for you, whether that’s clicking the link below, calling, or emailing us directly. Once you give our scheduler some information about your availability and preferences, we’ll set you up with the therapist we think will be the best fit for you for your intake session.

What can I expect during my intake session?

The intake session is your first meeting with your therapist. We generally ask that you fill out your intake paperwork through SimplePractice a couple of days prior to your initial session. If you’re using insurance, we also recommend you fill out your insurance information as soon as you can so we can verify your benefits. Upon arrival, we will sit down together, talk about your general history and get to know each other for the next 50-60 minutes. Towards the end, if it seems like a good fit, we will set some initial goals including how often and how long you might like to return to therapy. Your sessions may be weekly, bi weekly, or montly depeing on what works best for you. This is your session so what we talk about, and if you return, are totally up to you!

How long is the waitlist?

We appreciate your eagerness to begin your journey with us! The length of our waitlist varies based on factors such as therapist availability and individual client needs. Our priority is to ensure that each client receives the attention and care they deserve. Rest assured, we’re committed to keeping you informed and will do our best to accommodate your needs as efficiently as possible. Please reach out to our team, and we’ll gladly provide you with more personalized information.

Do you accept insurance?

Between all of our therapists on staff, we are able to accept Aetna, Anthem BC/BS, Cigna, Optum, Oscar, and United.

I have insurance, but I don’t see it listed. What can I do?

You’re welcome to come see us out-of-network!

We do not accept other insurance plans at this time but you may be able to submit our invoice to your insurance as an out-of-network provider. You are also able to be reimbursed through your FSA or HSA accounts.

Notice Regarding Medicare and Medicaid

Please note that our practice is unable to accept clients with Medicare or Medicaid coverage. Due to federal regulations, we are also unable to provide services to individuals with Medicare or Medicaid, even on a private pay basis.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage those with Medicare or Medicaid to seek providers who can accommodate their insurance. If you need help finding resources, we are happy to provide referrals to appropriate providers in your area.

What’s the difference between an intern, an APC, and an LPC?

Master’s Level Clinical Intern: These are graduate-level students who are completing their clinical training under the supervision of licensed professionals. They typically are in their 2nd year of their master’s degree in counseling or a related field and are gaining hands-on experience in a clinical setting as part of their educational requirements. While they provide counseling services, their work is supervised by licensed clinicians.

APC (Associate Professional Counselor): An APC is a graduate of a master’s level counseling program who has completed the necessary coursework and clinical training hours required for licensure. However, they are in the process of accruing postgraduate supervised experience to meet the requirements for full licensure. APCs provide counseling services under the supervision of a licensed professional and are working towards becoming fully licensed.

LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor): LPCs have completed all requirements for licensure, including graduate education, supervised clinical experience, and passing a licensure exam. They are fully licensed to practice independently and provide counseling services to clients without supervision. LPCs adhere to ethical standards and state regulations governing the practice of counseling.

In summary, while Master’s level clinical interns are still in training and APCs are working towards full licensure under supervision, LPCs have met all requirements and are fully licensed to practice independently.

What services do you offer?

At Awakenings Counseling Center it is our goal to provide as many services in office as possible to best support you. These include:

➼ Individual, Couples, Group, and Family behavioral therapy

➼ Screening and Assessment related to your diagnosis and appropriate care. (We may also refer you to one of our affiliate providers for assessment services depending on individual needs.)

➼ Treatment Planning

➼ Care Coordination

➼ Crisis and Emergency Support Services

➼ Substance Abuse Treatment Support, Recovery and Aftercare (We can also provide referrals for inpatient and intensive outpatient services.)

➼ Psychological Testing

Our job is to collaborate with you to find your best course of treatment. This may include services in addition to those listed above, in which we will refer you to our affiliate partners. In this case we will work with you and our affiliate partner to ensure there is no disruption of care or barrier to accessing these additional services.

We are unable to prescribe medication, however we are happy to assist with referrals to these services.

What age range do you see?

We are currently seeing clients ages 5 & up.

What types of clients do you see?

We have worked with a wide range of clients, utilizing evidence based practices, including those with substance abuse issues, victims of domestic violence, anger management issues and individuals suffering from depression.

We specialize in working with adolescents who are facing issues relating to the transition into adulthood, adolescents experiencing depression and issues with cutting. We also specialize in working with men and women seeking to develop social skills.
